Microsoft Teams PowerPoint integration to get another useful feature

Microsoft Teams update recently enabled support for a new in-meeting sharing experience and PowerPoint Live integration. As per a new update, Microsoft Teams is now getting support for live slide translation, a new feature that you can use to translate the slides during a live meeting.

Microsoft Teams new slide translation feature is part of the PowerPoint Live, a feature for Windows 10 and macOS that allows presenters to start presentations without needing to share the screen with the audience.

Users can either present their slides directly from PowerPoint or share their synced presentations using the “Share content” menu within a call.

PowerPoint Live in Teams currently also allows users to view their slides, notes, charts and conduct the presentation within a single view. This ensures that the presenter and audience are focused on the presentation, and presenters don’t miss any urgent prompts. In the June update, Teams presentation window will add support for live translation.

This new slide translation feature will allow anyone (attendees, presenters) to translate presentation content privately. Attendees can right-click on the presentation to access the translation feature, as shown in the below screenshot.

Each meeting attendee will have an option to view the presentation in their preferred language, such as Dutch, French, German, Irish, Italian, and Japanese. At the moment, 19+ languages are supported by the Teams translation feature.

“This unique experience will only occur for the user requesting slide translation without interrupting the presenter or any other attendees in the meeting,” Microsoft said when asked about the new presentation experience.

During the meetings, the audience can now also click on the hyperlinks and videos embedded in the presentation without leaving the call or disturbing the presenter. This works at any point of the presentation, even when you’re viewing a recorded session.

Microsoft is currently planning to begin rolling out the slide translation feature in the mid of June and rollout is expected to complete by the end of the month.

Live events integration in Teams to get better

In addition, Microsoft is also working on a new feature that will allow users to easily manage their live events.

After the update, event producers can access the settings and features of live events in a new external window. This feature is currently rolling out and it will be enabled for users in the coming weeks.
